Why we did it

This site was put together because we wanted to have a single place on the internet where we could find the useful links that we had collected during our long, long hours of web surfing and where we could record some of the knowledge that we had gained through our long, long years of development experience. Having started down that course, it seemed only right to make this site fit to be used by anyone. We hope that we've succeeded, but please contact us if you think we've failed, or if you can see ways in which the site could be improved.

Information on linked sites

The sites that we've linked to have been chosen because some of the knowledge contained therein has been useful to us in our own work. However, even the best of sites has occasionally led us astray. If you're trying to do something that a site says should work, and you can't get it to work no matter what, then it's always a good idea to seek a second opinion elsewhere.

Software on linked sites

Although we've tried to give particular prominence to products that we've used successfully ourselves, not all of the software on the sites that we link to has been used or tested by us and, even when it has, your use of it must be at your own risk. We have also tried to favour sites that mainly offer cost-free, royalty-free, software, but several of the sites that we link to additionally offer trial software, commercial software, shareware and software that is free only "for personal use". You are obliged, as a good citizen of cyberspace, to abide by the terms of a downloaded product's license.

Information and software on this site

All the original articles, code snippets, programs and binaries produced by the authors of developingskills.com are free to copy, download and redistribute, although all usage is at your own risk. Also, we'd be a bit miffed if we saw our own words being quoted back at us with someone else's name on the top, so have a heart.
